Hi! If you’re new here, or new to the embroidery applique world, this is great place to start! We will have informative posts to help you with everything from growing your embroidery business, sharpening your stitching skills or just having fun and learning more about your hobby of machine embroidery.

I’m Karen Norman, owner of Applique Market and here’s a little bit about me. I’m the youngest of 7 children. My husband and I live in North Florida with our two boys ages 20 and 15, and have been married for 29 years. I started sewing when I was about 12 years old, learning from my big sister. We made a purse from a Simplicity pattern out of bright red flowered fabric. Boy do I wish I still had it! That was just the beginning of my love for all things sewing. Before I started AM, I worked as an administrative assistant for the CFO of a large grocery chain for many years, and then moved to part-time admin work when my boys were small, before I left that to put my attention to AM full-time in 2011. When I’m not in front of the computer, I love decorating our home and spending time at the lake and the beach with the family.

About 10 years ago I purchased my first embroidery machine, a single needle Janome, and little did I know that machine would be just the beginning of my love of machine embroidery. I began stitching for friends and family and soon started digitizing when I needed a design that I couldn’t find. From that my digitizing grew into first selling designs on Etsy and then my own website. I have an assistant, Lydia Wright, she’s been with AM for about 3 years making my life easier by answering email, posting on social media, listing designs and much more. Lydia lives in Alabama with her husband and 2 boys, ages 10 and 3, and thanks to the internet we can work ‘together’ to keep AM running each day!

I create all the embroidery and applique designs you see on Applique Market. Our designs are for home embroidery machines and they can be instantly downloaded to your computer and then sent to your machine so you can be stitching right away.

I hope this will be a resource for you to find help, inspiration and information for all things embroidery. Please leave a comment to let me know you’re reading and any topics you’d like us to cover. We’ll be adding content on a weekly basis so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a post!
